CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 14, 2008) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professionals Kenny Perry and Paula Creamer relied on TaylorMade® equipment and continued their runs as the hottest players on their respective tours. Perry prevailed in a three-man playoff at the John Deere Classic to claim his third event in his last five starts and all but guaranteed himself a spot on this year's Ryder Cup team at Valhalla Country Club in his home state of Kentucky. Creamer, meanwhile, won the Jamie Farr Owens-Corning Classic in wire-to-wire fashion for her third win of the year.
Perry, who now ranks second on the FedExCup points list, drove the ball beautifully all week using a TaylorMade Tour Burner® driver, averaging 292.5 yards off the tee.* In the three-man playoff, which also included TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff pro Jay Williamson, Perry spanked the ball 299 yards off the tee into perfect position on the first hole, the 476-yard 18th. After his two opponents found the pond left of the green with their second shots, Perry safely hit the green with his, then calmly two-putted for a par – and the trophy.
Perry's win represented the fifth PGA Tour win for the new Tour Burner driver. Engineered for all types of players seeking tour-caliber distance, the Tour Burner driver features Dual Crown technology to create an exceptionally low center of gravity that makes it easier to create vertical-gear effect at impact, which helps achieve the high launch angle / low spin-rate combination that promotes greater distance.
